Denise McKay has been involved
with dogs her entire life, spending her early childhood in the presence of a
Beagle and then a Miniature Poodle. She developed a passion for Dobermans the
very first time she laid eyes on one, recognizing their grace, beauty and
intelligent demeanour. She then purchased her first Dobie in her late teens; a
beautiful black male she called Sidney. She would share her life with several
more over the next 32 years.
Denise put a Canadian
Championship on Sidney before he reached one year old and then went on to do
Obedience and Schutzhund with him. She continued on with several more Dobies
over the years, focusing on obedience training and competitions.
In 2002, Denise discovered the
dog sport of Agility, and in 2006, Rally-Obedience. She has since put many
Agility and Rally titles on her dogs and currently has the 2 top dogs in APDT
Rally in Canada.
Denise has lived in Fernie for
the decade and shares her life with husband Jack and Dobermans Viper and
Jagged. She offers lessons in Agility, Rally and Obedience, using positive
training methods.
